How to Enroll
Ready to make your elections? Here’s how.
Once you have reviewed your enrollment choices, either make changes or waive coverage by November 9. If you do not take any action, your benefit elections will continue automatically, as noted in What if you don’t enroll? below. Your choices will take effect on January 1, 2019.
Be Prepared
n You can enroll online anywhere at anytime.
If you’re outside the Hess network, log in to the Hess Benefits Center at empyrean.hess.com using your Hess network credentials.
n Have on hand the Social Security number and birth date of any dependent you would like to cover.
n You are required to designate beneficiaries in order to complete your 2019 enrollment. Beneficiaries can be a person, trust or your estate. Be sure to have this information readily available.
Enroll Online
n Go to the Hess Benefits Center at empyrean.hess.com and log in.
n Click Pending Open Enrollment Event in the middle of the home page.
n Select your coverage and review your per-paycheck cost for each benefit by clicking Next Benefit.
n Click Change if you want to make a change to a benefit.
n Designate a beneficiary for every coverage you elect that requires a beneficiary designation.
n Review and save your 2019 elections. Enroll by Phone
n Call 1-877-511-4377 Monday through Friday,
7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. CT and follow the instructions.
WHAT IF YOU DON’T ENROLL?
Your current elections will continue automatically except for:
n HSA—your current election will not carry over, so you’ll need to elect an amount to contribute in 2019. You can do this during Open Enrollment or anytime in 2019.
n DCFSA—you must enroll during Open Enrollment if you want to contribute for
2019. Otherwise, changes are only allowed if you have a qualified life event.
NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE
DURING THE YEAR?
You can only make changes outside of the Open Enrollment period if you experience a qualified life event, such as:
n Birth, adoption or placement for adoption n Marriage
n Divorce, legal separation or annulment
n Death of a dependent
n Change in employment status for your spouse
You must make any changes within 30 days
of your qualified life event. To make a qualified
life event change during the year, go online to the Hess Benefits Center at empyrean.hess.com or
call 1-877-511-4377. Representatives are available Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. CT. If you miss this window, you will have to wait until you experience another qualified life event or the next Open Enrollment period to make changes.
